About the Job

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who provides direct support to individuals with autism and other developmental disorders. The RBT implements behavior-analytic services under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized treatment plans based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

  • Collect and record data on client progress and behavior changes.

  • Assist in the assessment of clients’ needs and the development of intervention strategies.

  • Provide direct one-on-one support to clients in various settings, including homes, schools, and community environments.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members regarding client progress and any concerns.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients.

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Working Conditions

  • Work may be performed in various settings, including client homes, schools, and community locations.

  • May require flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends.

  • Physical demands may include lifting, bending, and engaging in physical activities with clients.

Requirements

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Completion of the RBT training program and passing the RBT exam.

  • Strong understanding of ABA principles and practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred.

  • Experience in implementing behavior intervention plans and data collection.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.

  • Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.

  • Proficient in data collection and analysis.

Personal Qualities:

  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and needs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Background check clearance.

  • Ongoing training and professional development as required by the employer.
